Student Robotics Recruitment (University Students)

Hi

Firstly thank you to everyone who has recently taken an interest in Student Robotics - particularly at the SCA Bun-fight or by joining the mailing list or coming along to committee meetings. We will be holding a special recruitment event for everyone interested in learning more about what we do and in particular about the Student Robotics hardware & software.

The afternoon will consist of a two hour session starting at 3pm in Zepler (B59) Seminar Room 1 on Wednesday 22 October (next Wednesday). In groups, you will be given a simple robot chassis pre-fitted with wheels, motors and a complete Student Robotics kit (for more details of the kit, see the website!). Each group will then have two hours to program their robot to do whatever they want, be it navigating around the room, detecting items using the vision system or just travelling a pre-programmed route.

The purpose of the session is to:
> Have some fun with the kit
> Find out about the current hardware, its limitations and its features
> Test out the new on-line IDE for writing code (fresh out of development)
> Get to know Student Robotics members

Most importantly we want you to get excited about the project and find something that you'd like to get involved in, be it making improvements to the hardware/software, helping to mentor the sixth-form students or coming up with new ideas.

To help us with admin, please RSVP to *****@*****.**.uk committee@studentrobotics.org list if you can make it,

Thanks and I look forward to seeing everyone there!
